Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning & Deputy Director of the Biocomputing and Developmental Systems Research Group, University of Limerick

Meghana has played a key role in the development of high-performance GPU computing infrastructure within the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. Passionate about harnessing artificial intelligence to address real-world societal challenges, she leads multidisciplinary research and mentor’s students from around the world in exploring emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, digital twins, large language models, and responsible AI.

As Principal Investigator of the Research Ireland-funded ALTER project and co-lead of the Health Research Board-funded Secondary Data Analysis Project, Meghana collaborates with consultants from the Emergency and Nephrology Departments at University Hospital Limerick to develop AI-driven healthcare solutions. She also co-leads projects with Fidelity Investments and the Central Bank of Ireland contributing to a research portfolio of over €1 million.

She is a participant in an international initiative led by the Microarray Quality Control Society to advance explainable machine learning models using real-world cancer datasets. She promotes AI literacy through teaching, outreach, and public engagement and believes that innovation flourishes through curiosity, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
