Karen has more than 30 years’ experience in healthcare, with a career spanning clinical practice, operational management and executive leadership. She has worked at St Vincent’s University Hospital for 27 years, progressing from radiographer to senior leadership roles, including Business Manager for the Medical Directorate and, since 2024, Deputy Chief Operating Officer.
Before joining SVUH, Karen gained international experience working as a radiographer in the UK and Australia. She has a strong focus on innovation and integrated care and chaired the Local Implementation Group for the Virtual Ward project, playing a central role in its successful implementation. Working closely with local teams, HSE Digital Health and the national steering committees, she was instrumental in delivering the Virtual Ward, which has now reached its second anniversary and continues to support enhanced patient care and service delivery.
